Convenience Versus Quality

When it comes to finding a good piano teacher, convenience and quality rarely go together.

If the main criteria for teacher selection is the one with an opening on Wednesdays at 4:30pm, then you're prioritizing convenience. And the odds are slim that a quality teacher will have your exact time slot of preference available.

Same if you're looking for an in-home piano teacher, saving the commute time.

There's nothing wrong with in-home piano lessons in theory.

But, the reality is, the market is flooded with sub-standard piano teachers who travel to students' homes. (Not to mention, most don't realize they're supposed to have liability insurance.)

The tough part is, your average parent or adult student doesn't know the difference between convenient and quality.

So, the convenient option appears to be the best option.

When quality is prioritized, it doesn't necessarily mean inconvenient.

You'll probably have to give a little. 

But you'll get a lot in return.

Like...exponentially.

  1. I struggled w this dilemma when I was in the search for a new teacher. But luckily for me, SSPS, was the second entry in my Google search. And to our fearless, magnificent leader’s awesome personality and ability to engage w people, I found chatting with him on my first call very enjoyable. So my introductory w SSPS was very favorable!! And I’ve heard about the local music school’s revolving door of teachers, so I didn’t want that! Plus, SSPS’s business model and philosophy resonated w me in how people, including the teachers, come first!! Plus, SSPS’s tuition was not much more than the local music school!! So, it was an easy decision for me to come to SSPS!! And I’ve NEVER regretted my decision!!! It’s been over a year since I restarted lesson, and I’m really enjoying all Jonathan and the other awesome teachers have to offer!!
