Warming up isn't a foreign concept.
We warm up before we workout (assuming we work out...). We warm up before we sing. We warm up before we run.
We usually warm up before we practice an instrument. The warmup might be playing slowly, doing some scales, that sort of thing.
But, what if you warm up before actually touching the instrument? Closing your eyes, enjoying two minutes of beautiful silence, and emptying your mind before diving in for a good practice?
For that matter, why not warm up before every activity of the day?
Most of us have to run from one activity to the next throughout the day in an almost-never-ending flow. Wouldn't it make sense that we need a transition break in between activities?
Not entirely unlike a toddler.
Try it today. Before each event, take one minute for a mental warmup. To exit the previous activity before you go on to the next one.
Please try it, for real?
If you do it, that means you'll have to close your eyes for a minute right after reading this blog post. Before you go on with the next part of your day.
Ready...set...go!!
Don't forget to come back and tell us how it feels.
