Do you find that every time you use the bathroom, you just have to whip out your smartphone?
At every read light, do you feel the urge to check your messages?
When your phone dies, do you feel like you've been cut off from the world? Like you're gasping for air?
Modern technology is incredible. We're living in Star Trek times, man. But the flip side is that it's eroded our ability to just be.
And it's become very hard to sustain our focus for prolonged periods of time. All because we're used to endless stimulation from waking until sleeping.
No wonder it's harder than ever to practice these days.
But, you can do something about it. Get used to being bored.
When you're at a red light, just enjoy the sights and the sounds. When nature calls, just sit there and stick to business. And turn off your phone once in a while.
And meditate frequently.
In a world of distracted people, being able to enjoy the world as is has become mankind's new superpower.
