Quizzes to be Excited About

"I'm so excited about my quiz today."

-No Student, Ever

In theory, school should spark lifelong learning in children, right?

Then, why haven't we made quizzes more interesting yet?

I mean, think about it, friends.

We're literally doing quizzes the same way we did fifty years ago. And since when have we settled for anything from fifty years ago?

Quizzes could be so creative and cool. Events to look forward to. Something that would still show that the kids learned something.

And leave them wanting more.

Like, what about an escape room? One where kids need to demonstrate teamwork and show their knowledge to solve a series of puzzles and riddles.

That's a quiz I would sign up for any day of the week. Even if it were graded.

Or, what about a game show?

Or, what about solving a real-world problem using the skills that were learned in class?

Like, instead of spitting out a bunch of answers about the branches of government...

What about presenting students with a national crisis scenario where they are president of the United States? And they have to navigate the branches of government to save the world?

Makes it a little more exciting and applicable, right?

In a world where we can't have a phone for more than three months without becoming outdated, we need to put our foot down on quizzes.

Quizzes make kids stressed. And all it trains them to do is memorize, then brain dump. Memorize, then brain dump.

It's time for an upgrade. And with upgrades, come possibilities.

Never miss a blog post!

When 2 + 2 = 10

When it comes to practicing, most people don’t get how time works. People think the amount of practice time is most important. Rather than the frequency. Logic tells us this: Practicing 5 minutes for six days would be the same as practicing 30 minutes for one day. It adds up to the same total minutes, so the benefits are the same.
