Musicians have a wonderful gift to be able to share joy with others. How often did you light up when someone played a familiar tune unexpectedly?
The typical piano student track hides this, though.
We have our piano lesson. And then we practice at home. Occasionally we perform for a recital, but only invite our immediate family.
So, a piano student could theoretically spend a decade in lessons and no one would ever know outside of immediate family.
But, how cool is it that we have the ability to Zoom someone on the other side of the planet and play them a tune?
The ability to learn a friend's favorite song and play it for them on their birthday?
The ability to teach others how this whole playing music thing works.
There's so much more that we can share in addition to performing in public. And with technology, the possibilities are limitless.
So long as you're willing to look for them.
