The other day, I met a business owner who shared an interesting story with me. She had played violin her entire childhood, and decided to go into biology.
After finishing undergrad, she applied for a job working in a lab before pursuing a master's. She never worked in a lab before.
Zero prior experience. Things weren't looking good.
But she got the job.
Her new employer told her that the main reason they hired her was because of her music studies. He said, "This alone checks all the boxes for us. Since you studied music for so long, we know you have the discipline, patience, resilience, and problem-solving skills we're looking for."
Music. Sometimes it's the only thing you need on your resume.
