We Are What We Repeat

Better late than never!

We've all heard it. Many times. Usually when we're a bit disappointed...either in the person who says it, or in ourselves for being the ones who say it.

But let's take a look at that sentence for a moment. Better late than never.

Is late really better than never?

Wouldn't it be better to be on time? Or wouldn't it be better to be early?

And compared to "never," almost anything is better. So, is the comparison even valid?

The point is, this phrase has been used for decades. Maybe centuries. And when we repeat something enough (or hear something repeated enough), our minds make it true.

So why not repeat something that will be helpful? How about things like...

Practicing is fun.

or...

Working out 20 minutes a day is better than 24/7 pain later on.

or...

Cooking is easier than it looks. (Okay, maybe that's not an issue for you, but I'd seriously burn down the house trying to make cereal...)

This is why some people have mantras. Which I must admit, I thought was a silly waste of time until a few years ago.

If you're not familiar with mantras, they're sayings that you repeat to yourself. Preferably every morning. Sayings that guide your thinking and give you direction.

Things that help you become the person you want to be.

So...what kind of person do you want to be? Try repeating a few sayings every day that will help you get there.

Let us know how you feel in a month or two.

And rest assured...even if it doesn't work, at least it will be interesting.

When 2 + 2 = 10

When it comes to practicing, most people don’t get how time works. People think the amount of practice time is most important. Rather than the frequency. Logic tells us this: Practicing 5 minutes for six days would be the same as practicing 30 minutes for one day. It adds up to the same total minutes, so the benefits are the same.
