A question often asked is, "How long does it take to learn the piano?"
Or, "How long will I have to take piano to be able to play (insert famous piece of piano music here)??"
The general answer?
Years. And it is a lifelong endeavor. There is no point where anyone on the planet can say that they have mastered everything there is to know at the piano.
At first, this answer is met with a look of disappointment.
To which, I respond, "Isn't that great, though?"
"Think of all of the experiences you will get to have. The small wins, the huge wins, the challenges, the victories. Imagine all of the people you will meet along your journey. You would miss out on all of that if learning the piano were as instant as downloading an app to your phone."
It's like that Tortoise and the Hare story. The Tortoise got to take his time and see all of the sights along the way. And he still won the race.
