Discipline and Regret

There are two kinds of pain we have to go through.

The pain of discipline, and the pain of regret.

Here are some examples:

Pain of discipline - getting your kids to practice the piano even when they don't feel like it.
Pain of regret - wishing you hadn't given up as easily when they ask you why you let them quit 20 years later.

Pain of discipline - investing in retirement. We could sure use that money right now after all, and there never seems to be enough of it.
Pain of regret - retiring broke.

Pain of discipline - Working out sure is uncomfortable in oh, so many ways.
Pain of regret - having health problems later on.

When it comes to most things, we have to experience one of these types of pain. Whether we choose it now, or pay the price later.

But, that's the good news. We get to choose.

So, which one will you choose today?
