Have you ever noticed how confusing the letter F is?
I mean, think about it...
When you say, "F," the letter itself starts with an "E" sound. Like, "ef."
Unlike the relatively-clear letters B, D, K, and P.
L, M, and X are just as confusing, but the letter F felt like the one to pick on today.
Imagine what it's like for a child to learn F for the first time. How confusing it must be at first. Saying the name of the letter versus working out the sound, and then putting it into the context of an actual word.
The more we empathize with things we take for granted like the letter F, the better we can teach our kids.
And the better we can summon the patience and curiosity to meet them where they are, wherever that may be.
