The Principle of Occam’s Razor

Occam’s Razor is a principle stating that the simplest solution to a problem is likely the best solution.

(Okay, that’s probably a gross over-simplification. But then by oversimplifying, am I demonstrating the principle?!? Whoa…)

Makes sense when you think about it, though.

If you’re chronically exhausted, sleep more.

If you never have money, spend less.

If you’re over-scheduled, say “no” to some things. (Just not piano.)

If the piano‘s out of tune, pick up the phone and call a piano tuner.

If someone’s being mean to you, tell them they’re being mean to you.

If you can’t fix the sink yourself, hire a professional.

We tend to overcomplicate things. It’s the way we are. But in an age of over-complication and occasional insanity, the ability to simplify is a superpower.

And that is pretty cool.
