A lot of video games feature NPC's - non-playable characters.
These are the villagers in the Legend of Zelda games.
Or the random pedestrians in the Grand Theft Auto games.
For the most part, they just walk back and forth. Or they're on their merry way going somewhere, but not paying much attention to anything.
You can cast a spell, steal a car, or even shoot someone, and NPC's won't react much. Or at all.
It's easy to live life like an NPC without realizing it. They even made a movie about the concept - Free Guy.
Falling into the groove of doing the same things every day, every week, every month, kind of on auto-pilot. Knowing there are problems, but not reacting much. Just going with the flow.
But it doesn't have to be that way.
You can be the hero of your game. The one that creates, disrupts, and shakes things up (within reason, of course).
Sometimes it just takes doing something different.
