I've written a lot about one of the top three reasons parents stop piano lessons. Because practicing isn't happening, and they're afraid the kids will hate it if they push the matter.
But...will they really hate it?
Do we worry they'll hate eating vegetables when we make sure they eat vegetables?
Do we worry they'll hate math because we make them play ball with the unreasonable, mean math teacher at school?
Do we worry they'll hate brushing their teeth if we make them brush their teeth?
No.
Because we know it's good for them, even if they don't realize it in the moment. And one day, they might even thank us for it.
