"Nestle" has opened a factory in the UAE

Nestle, the global leader in food production, has announced the opening of its 18th plant in the Middle East region, namely in the Al Maha district in southern Dubai, which will produce coffee and nutritional supplements for the regional market.

The factory, built with an investment of 158 million USD, in the south of Dubai was opened by the head of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, in the presence of the Executive Vice President of Nestle S.A. Marco Settembri.

The company will employ about 340 people from 20 countries.

Nestle already has 2 factories in the Dubai Investment Park, one of which produces bottled water, and the other produces confectionery brands such as Kitkat, Quality Street and Nido.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Sheikh Ahmed said that South Dubai is a region with strategic advantages that make it an ideal and attractive destination for leading multinational corporations.

"This is an important component of Dubai's development concept as an integrated platform that would meet the needs of aviation, air transport, commercial and logistics businesses," he stressed.

"Nestle initiated the creation of a future economic platform in the south of Dubai, realizing its potential in this region. It uses our excellent infrastructure and ease of doing business to further develop its operations. We are pleased to see that Nestle is becoming stronger in the region every day," said Khalifa Al Zaffin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Aviation City Corporation.

"The factory in the Al Maha area highlights the company's commitment to our consumers, willingness to invest and create jobs, and commitment to minimizing environmental impacts," Settembri said.

"These investments amount to 158 million. USD is Nestle's 18th production site in the Middle East and another milestone in our more than 80-year history in the region. This demonstrates our confidence not only in Dubai, but also in the UAE as a dynamic, stable and competitive business region, as well as our long-term commitment to the people of the Middle East," he added.

According to him, the plant will dispose of 100% of waste, which will bring the company closer to fulfilling its obligation not to send anything for burial at landfills by 2020.

"The factory will also save energy, thanks to 100% LED lighting and thermal insulation technology, which will reduce its need for air conditioning. In the future, water—saving mechanisms and solar power plants will be installed," Settembri explained.

"Nestle Al-Maha is another way for us to fulfill our obligations to the Middle East," said Yves Manghardt, President of Nestle Middle East".

"On-site manufacturing allows us to invest in local productions, will generate income locally, and also allows us to develop customized products to better meet local needs and serve communities in the region more effectively," he added.
