Are You Growing or Dying?

There's a saying. "If you're not growing, you're dying."

For a while, I thought it was cliché. But then, I taught hundreds more students. I also watched organizations grow and fail.

And you know what? It's true. Every word.

There is no staying the same. You're either progressing or decaying, in one form or another.

Piano students who settle for not progressing, in the name of "playing for enjoyment." They get older and realize they're playing music suited to younger kids. Everyone gets tired of it. Before you know it, mom and dad withdraw them from lessons.

When businesses stop innovating and creating new things. Doing things "the way they've always been done." Benchmarking. Settling for "just a little better than the competition."

They tank every time.

The economy changes, a competitor innovates like crazy, you. name it. The world changes while they remain stagnant. And then they die.

And when it comes to health and fitness, I don't need to say much. We know what happens when we get older if we don't take care of those things.

And so, I find that it helps to ask this question on a daily basis. For life, hobbies, career, music, business, health, fitness, and more.

"Am I growing, or am I dying?"

Then adjust to taste.
