Clearing the Gunk Out

When you're not sure what to do, just do something.

If you don't have any good ideas, then come up with as many bad ideas as you can.

If you're not sure when to practice, then practice right now.

If you think you don't have time to practice, practice right now.

If you're waiting for life to be perfect before getting started, just get started right now. There is no perfect, and best to get your failures out of the way sooner so you can get to the good stuff quicker.

When we roll up our sleeves and do the work, whether it's good or not, something wonderful happens. Good ideas and breakthroughs start to emerge.

It's like getting the gunk out of the water faucet. You have to get the water going to clear it out.

Only then does the clean water emerge.

Don't question it. Don't make excuses. Don't let life get in the way.

As one of my heroes Seth Godin says, "There is no such thing as writer's block."

After all, plumber's don't have plumber's block. Electricians don't have electrician's block.

If you don't know what to write, then just write anything.

If you don't know what to practice, just practice.

You can figure out the details as you go along.

And sooner or later, the magic will happen.
