Did you know young children have superpowers?
They will sing, dance, or play in front of the largest crowd. Naked, if you let them. Totally uninhibited.
They will draw, paint, or sculpt something from their imaginations, put it on display, and proclaim they are artists.
They have an insatiable curiosity about anything and everything. No matter how mundane, morbid, or gross it may be.
How many adults do you know who can do that?
Remarkable as children are, it is inevitable they start to grow up. The inhibitions start setting in. Fear of judgment enters the picture.
This is partly learned behavior and partly our tribal instincts. Outdated hardware in our brain that tells us that if other people don't like us, we'll be thrown out..outcasts.
And being thrown out means death.
Silly notion for our modern world, right? Not so much for our brains...
So, if you have young kids or work with young kids, how will you help them harness their superpowers? And how can you help them hold onto them as long as possible?
And as adults, how can we rediscover our own childhood superpowers?
They've always been there. Just waiting to be unlocked and unleashed again.
