The Gift of Scheduling

Scheduling gets a bad rap.

Probably because most people and kids are over-scheduled. But, there's a subtle difference here.

We tend to schedule our obligations. Meetings, sports practice, dance rehearsal, school events, and the list goes on.

But, how often do we schedule things for ourselves?

Try it for a couple days, and you'll notice a difference.

What happens if you schedule time to practice? What if you schedule time to go for a walk? What if you schedule time to just do nothing?

Meaning...

If you decide you're going to practice the piano from 4-4:30pm on Wednesdays and someone asks if you can get coffee during that time...

...the answer is no. You have a previous engagement. An engagement with yourself.

When we schedule for ourselves. Hold ourselves accountable to our own commitments. Then, we can start living a more balanced life.

And feel the joys that come with taking care of and developing ourselves.

Schedule something for yourself, even if it's something silly that you enjoy. Don't let anything get in the way. Come back and tell us what happens.
