The Only One in the Room

We all get excited, nervous, and self-conscious to some degree when we perform. Whether it be a piano recital or a board room presentation.

But, there's something special about that moment that I find makes it easier.

It's remembering one thing.

You're the only one in the room who can do what you do. (Most of the time, anyway...)

You're the only one in the room who put the hours of preparation into the work you're performing.

You may be the only one in the room with the guts to perform in front of the audience at all.

You may also be the only one in the room who knows how to do the thing that you're doing.

When you put it in this context, getting bent out of shape over a few missed notes seems a little silly.

Right...?
