The Power of Frequency

At South Shore Piano School, we host two student recitals every month.

As far as I know, we're the only community music school in existence that does this. And yes, on occasion, some people think it's overkill.

The industry-standard studio model is to hold one recital per year

But think about kids' activities.

Soccer has several practices, and often multiple games, per week. Same for basketball, football, and hockey.

Dance also meets several times per week.

Same thing for debate club, model UN, and robotics.

These all have two things in common:

1. They're social.

2. They meet frequently.

By contrast, piano lessons happen once a week between student and teacher.

And if students only get to meet other piano kids once a year while their sports are meeting several times per week...what hope does piano have?

That's why we go hardcore with our recitals.

Because we know there is power in community and frequency.

And, we like to do things that make sense like that.
