I recently came across the concept of the "warrior mindset."
When you think about the noble warrior, what images come to mind?
Do warriors read about battle strategy and theory, then jump straight to war?
Of course not...that would be silly. And deadly.
The warrior has a relentless tendency towards action. The warrior simulates battles, minus the whole possibility of death bit. The warrior trains. The warrior builds skill through intentional actions.
And in battle, the warrior doesn't mull over the possibilities. The warrior doesn't fear the worst possible outcome.
No. The warrior jumps into action.
And as the warrior gains skill, the warrior gains the ability to protect and help others.
And so, that is what we must do. As students, as parents, and as teachers.
When your brain goes to that place of deciding whether to do the thing or not...
Do. Act. Long as it won't kill you, you can always regret it later.
But chances are, you won't.
