I've never been one who watches the news. Today I was reminded why.
I had to get my car inspected. While I was doing work on my laptop in the waiting area, the local news was on.
Here's what I learned.
- People are stealing catalytic converters off cars in the town of Bridgewater.
- COVID-19 is probably going to become a seasonal illness.
- There was a shooting outside a school.
Here's what I didn't learn.
- How to protect myself or my loved ones from such atrocities.
- Anything positive.
They say a leading cause of mental illness is feeling like you have no control over your work or your future.
If you're a news-watcher, try turning it off for a day or two.
The important things, like pandemics and global warfare, you'll hear about from your friends. You can look up more details then.
In the meantime...unless you're going to take additional action to put what's on the news to good use...you're better off spending your news-watching time on more important things.
