Most of our decisions through college are based on our hope to land a great job one day. But in the end, we're all self-employed.
You make the decision to apply for a job based on what you're passionate about (hopefully).
Once you have the job, your place in the organization depends on how well you perform. (Again...hopefully).
Not just checking the boxes in the job description. But, how well you do the work, inspire others, get along with your colleges, etc.
And then, if your employer never gives you a raise and treats you like an indentured servant no matter how great a job you do, it's on you to make a decision.
To continue working in the hamster wheel.
Or to leave and find an employer who will appreciate your abilities and treat you like a human.
That decision is left up to you, as the manager and CEO of YOU, Inc.
Work is about more than following orders. It's about self-awareness, problem-solving, creativity, and understanding one's self worth.
