What Can You Learn From February Vacation?

February vacation week is a period of much-needed time off for students, teachers, and parents across the United States.

Everyone has time to catch up on rest.

Everyone has time to practice.

Everyone has time to do something they love but never seem to have time for.

Rarely have I talked to a student who is thrilled to get back to the regular routine the following week.

So, why not ask the question...what can we learn from February vacation? What can we take with us into the future?

I believe it's more possible than we think.

Love having some time to just relax and do nothing? Consider cutting something from your schedule so you can have some of that time when school is in session.

Enjoy finally having the time to do that thing you always wanted to do? Figure out how you would need to adjust your schedule or life to make that happen year-round.

School and homework aren't going away.

(Although, my offer still stands to reward a student with the courage to approach a teacher and say, Mr. Buttersworth, this homework load is simply too much to manage while maintaining adequate self-care. Can we please make another arrangement?)

But, we still have the power to make our lives what we want them to be with the remaining hours of the day. We get to choose how we spend them.

My challenge to you, dear reader, is this. P

Pick something you love about the coming week and keep doing it when the break is over. Find a way.

I don't think you'll regret it.
