The first year of COVID, it was scary when the cases reached over 1,000 a day here in Massachusetts.
When Delta arrived, cases climbed to upwards of 7,000 cases per day. 1,000 cases started looking pretty darn good.
When cases went down to 3,000 or so per day, the situation was "improving." Or at least that's what the news told us. Even though that's triple the number that had us panicked the first year.
And now, enter Omicron. Over 27,000 cases a day.
No doubt, when the numbers decrease to 15,000 a day, we'll feel some relief.
Funny how the meaning of numbers changes depending on the context, right?
Many kids feel they "don't have the time" to practice. But, when they become working adults, they pine for the days they "had more time" during childhood.
It's all relative.
The best we can do is live in the moment and harness the power of common sense. The modern-day superpower, as I like to call it.
If you were wearing a mask when it was 1,000 cases a day, then wear it at 3,000 a day. Even if the cases were 20,000 last week.
And for the sake of all that is good, just schedule the 10 minutes and practice already.
