What Six-Minute Abs Taught Us

Anyone who was around in the '80's and '90's remembers "Six-Minute Abs." The workout that was guaranteed to give you results in just six minutes a day.

But, realistically...come on...

How many people really ended up with sculpted abs with six minutes a day?

Plus, most people know these days that workouts alone don't create ripped bodies. One's eating habits have an even greater impact than the exercise.

And no workout on the planet will give you awesome abs if you're living on a diet of McDonald's and milkshakes.

But, Six-Minute Abs taught us something important.

That no matter how ridiculous the promise, people are excited by the thought of quick results. Unfortunately, there are people ready to take advantage of that in every field.

Six-Minute Abs is more likely to sell millions of copies than the "One-Year Behavior Modification, Motivation, and Inspiration Program To Develop Long-Term Eating and Fitness Habits that Will Cause You to Actually Lose Weight" program."

This is why we piano teachers weep when we see the latest app promising to teach people piano.

Apps don't teach piano. Piano teachers teach piano.

But apps are cheap and promise quick results, so people will always buy.

All the more reason to remember that quick fixes and promises of instant results never work.

But establishing a practice...a stubborn, relentless, unwavering practice...that's where the magic is. Then when everyone sees your results, they'll call you an overnight success.

Ironic, right?
