What SNL Teaches Us

It's so easy to put off sharing our work until it's ready.

But as we know as artists and teachers, it never feels ready.

This is why we need regular recitals, showcases, and deadlines. To have a "shipping schedule" for our work.

To put it out there, ready or not.

This is what the SNL guys have done for decades.

They don't perform because they're ready. They perform because it's Saturday night.

So, when's your next performance?

Never miss a blog post!

For parents, students, and anyone else who believes that music can and should be a meaningful part of everyone's life.

When 2 + 2 = 10

When it comes to practicing, most people don’t get how time works. People think the amount of practice time is most important. Rather than the frequency. Logic tells us this: Practicing 5 minutes for six days would be the same as practicing 30 minutes for one day. It adds up to the same total minutes, so the benefits are the same.

  1. For better or for worse, I’m planning on playing my current piece at the next recital. I may be the only adult…again, but I’m learning that’s ok!! I love watching the little ones and I can’t wait to see what they do next and how they improve. I also hope that my efforts inspire just one person, be they kid or adult, to try something out of their comfort zone!! It’s not as horrible as u may think.
