What Will You Do?

There's an important question when it comes to staying motivated.

What will you do?

We all have days that we don't feel like practicing. Working. Exercising. Or even getting up in the morning.

The issue is, we don't take a moment to decide what we're going to do about it. This is where writing can come in handy.

You might write something like...

I don't feel like starting this project because I don't feel confident I can complete it successfully.

Most people take that as the beginning and the end. They feel shame, and decide not to take any action.

But there's an alternate route. It's deciding what you will do about it. Bonus points if you can pick three things.

For example.

I don't feel like starting this project because I don't feel confident I can complete it successfully.

What will you do?

  • Email my friend who's really good with this stuff and ask for some advice.
  • Get a first draft going, show it to someone who can give me feedback, and use that to improve my work and confidence.
  • Do some research today to learn the things I'm not feeling so comfortable about with this project.

New doors and interesting things open immediately.

So do that next time you don't feel like doing that thing that's (hopefully) important to you.

Ask, "What will you do?"

Write down a few things.

Then go do it.
