If a piece of music is overwhelming, start with eight measures.
If eight measures are too much, start with four.
If four measures aren't working, start with two.
If two measures won't gel, start with one.
If one measure isn't coming together, start with two beats.
If two beats are a challenge, start with one.
If practicing thirty minutes a day feels like too much, start with fifteen.
If fifteen minutes won't work, do ten.
If ten minutes make you nervous, start with five.
If five minutes give you pause, start with two.
It doesn't have to be music. Pick the challenge of your choice. That thing you have been putting off.
Maybe it's something you always wanted to do, but it never felt like the right time.
Anything broken down enough times can take you to a starting place you can handle with ease.
And that, my friends, is where the magic begins.
