You know...music lessons are a big commitment.
Having lived in the music universe most of my life, it's easy to take it for granted.
But I mean, think about what a parent has to do.
Find a good teacher.
Invest in a good instrument without a guarantee of success.
Be the transportation service to and from lessons once a week.
Serve as the mostly-friendly enforcer of the "it's for your own good even if you don't appreciate it now" daily practice in between lessons.
And battle the urge to throw in the towel and quit when the going gets tough.
Most parents won't do it. It's not for the faint of heart, after all.
So let it be known that every parent of a music student is a hero. An inspiration to others. And a model of what it means to be an awesome human being.
Every musical family and brilliant musician started with a parent seeing the value in music lessons. And making the investments and sacrifices to make them happen.
The world owes you a debt of gratitude.

Wooooo hooooo!! U ROCK parents!!
