Some students say they want to learn just enough piano to be able to enjoy music.
Or just enough piano to be able to play the songs they want to learn.
If only it worked that way.
It's like saying, "I want to exercise and eat healthy just enough to be in shape."
Or, "I want to learn about investing just enough to become wealthy."
There's no such thing as "just enough" when it comes to habits and practice.
Skills need to be maintained. Especially if we want to accomplish something substantial. Like learning an instrument, getting in shape, or becoming wealthy.
Otherwise, whatever we gained decays and we have to start all over again.

Soooo true!!! This reminds me that my cross country coach in high school & college used to tell us that we needed to maintain our level of running by running at least every other day but preferably every day. He told us all the gains we had made over the weeks & months of the season can be lost in just over a week I’d we don’t engage and workout frequently. If we took to many days off, we’d basically have to start building up our muscles again as if we had not run a day in our lives.
