When's the last time you enjoyed taking a nice breath?
Or enjoyed the sound of the toothbrush against your teeth?
Or enjoyed how the ground feels underneath your feet?
We talk a lot about skills around here. Musical skills and otherwise. It's all connected.
You'd think enjoyment is one of those things that just happens. That it's something we shouldn't need to work at. Otherwise, something must be wrong with us.
But with technology connecting us to more people and schedules that seem to only get busier, it's not so easy. In the hustle and bustle, we forget to stop and enjoy the subtle nuances that are all around us.
So even for the things we do on a daily basis, it's worthwhile to take a moment and focus on enjoying it.
How do you practice enjoyment? You don't need to do much. It's a mindset shift. A question.
Simply ask, "What am I enjoying about this moment?" Whether practicing, working, eating, washing, or taking the dog for a walk.
And like anything, as you keep practicing, it gets easier and easier.
Like just enjoying a nice cold ice cream cone on a hot summer day!!! Before I go home to play or practice, whichever I might enjoy
