When I started my last job in 2013, I loved the teaching and community. But there were problems with communication and quality control. Big problems.
The excuse, which became a mantra for the school, was always the same:
Well, we're much bigger than we used to be.
One of those "We're doing well, which has created more challenges," things.
Which is fine. I get that.
Except...
When I left five years later, the problems had gotten worse. Much worse. And the reason was still:
Well, we're much bigger than we used to be.
Four years later, the organization is now half the size it used to be. Ironic and a little sad, right?
When you have a problem, hurry up and solve it. Otherwise, it's going to be solved for you.
And probably not in the way you hoped.
